Florida Antique, Classic and Historic Vehicle License Plates
Antique Vehicles
To obtain an antique license plate for your vehicle in Florida, you must submit an application to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV). To qualify as an antique vehicle, the vehicle must meet the following criteria:
- Manufactured for private use
- Manufactured in a model year 1945 or earlier
- Retains at least 75% of its original body, components, and chassis
Classic Vehicles
A vehicle is considered a classic in Florida if it meets the following criteria:
- At least 30 years old
- Manufactured before 1945
Historic Vehicles
A vehicle may be considered a historic vehicle if it meets the following criteria:
- At least 25 years old
- Has significant historical value or significance
- Is owned by a museum or historical society
