Colorado Rockies Fire Manager Bud Black After 10 Seasons

Dave Roberts Expected to be Named New Manager

The Colorado Rockies have fired manager Bud Black after 10 seasons, the team announced Monday. The Rockies went 53-109 this season, the worst record in the National League.

According to sources, the Los Angeles Dodgers' Dave Roberts is expected to be named the Rockies' new manager.

Black's Tenure with the Rockies

Black led the Rockies to the playoffs four times during his tenure, but they never advanced past the first round including this past October in a sweep by the eventual World Series Champion Atlanta Braves.

The Rockies have not had a winning record since 2018, when they went 91-71 and lost to the Milwaukee Brewers in the NL Divisional Series. Black's overall record with the Rockies was 799-883.

Rockies' Future

The Rockies have a number of young players on their roster, including shortstop Ezequiel Tovar and outfielder Michael Toglia. The team is also expected to be active in the free agent market this offseason.

Roberts has a 634–467 record in seven seasons as manager of the Dodgers, leading them to three NL West division titles and two NL pennants. He also has a 38–34 record in the postseason.
