David King: A Hockey Legacy

Early Life and Career

David King CM, born December 22, 1947, is a Canadian former professional ice hockey coach. Beginning his hockey journey in 1969, King has left an indelible mark on the sport.

Coaching Accomplishments

King has coached numerous teams, including:

  • University of Victoria Vikes (1979-1983)
  • Team Canada (1984-1985)
  • Medicine Hat Tigers (1986-1991)
  • Winnipeg Jets (1991-1993)
  • Calgary Flames (1998-2000)

Under his guidance, teams have achieved great success, including:

  • World Junior Championships gold medal (1985)
  • Canada Cup championship (1984)
  • Memorial Cup championship (1987)
