Arsenal reach semis as Maanum and Blackstenius inspire comeback

Gunners overturn first-leg deficit with dominant display at Emirates

Maanum's stunning strike levels tie before Blackstenius seals victory

Arsenal have progressed to the semi-finals of the Women's Champions League for the first time in a decade after a dominant 2-0 second-leg victory over Bayern Munich on Wednesday night.

Trailing 1-0 from the first leg, the Gunners were in need of a strong start and they delivered, blowing Bayern away in a scintillating opening 45 minutes.

Frida Maanum levelled the tie on aggregate with a stunning strike from outside the box, before Stina Blackstenius put the hosts ahead just before the break.

Arsenal continued to push for more goals in the second half, but Bayern held firm to ensure the Gunners progressed to the last four with a 2-1 aggregate victory.

Jonas Eidevall's side will now face either Chelsea or Lyon in the semi-finals, with the draw taking place on Friday.
